Chinese-language test and driver's guide

The Class 7 computer knowledge test is offered in 25 languages, including Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional).

Translated tests are available only for Class 7. All oral tests are given in English. Test stations also have audio devices that read the questions and answer choices aloud.

To use a translator for the Class 7 test, you must first try the test at least 3 times with the available options, then email a request to tec.licensingtraining@gov.ab.ca. Bringing a translator to your first test is allowed only when your language is not offered on the computer test, so it does not apply to Chinese.

The government publishes the Driver's Guide in English, plus a French version produced by the Francophone Secretariat. It does not publish a Chinese version.

Some community groups have translated the guide into other languages. The government states that these translations are not Government of Alberta publications and that it is not responsible for their accuracy.

The official English Driver's Guide (2026 edition) can be downloaded from the Government of Alberta's open publications site.
